UNDERGRADUATE WORK- MODERN GEOMETRIC
Modern Geometric was my final project as a Textile Design Student at the University Of Derby. Colour has always been a big inspiration for me, and this was incorporated throughout the collection. All fabrics were knitted either on a 10 guage Dubied, or a 10 guage Shima Sieki, and aim to recreate the repeat patterns and geometric within the modern skylines that now surround us.
Coloured laser-cut acrylic shapes were used to highlight the once unconventional materials now used so often within modern architecture. Each bold, geometric embellishment was designed, and laser cut by myself, adding a very unique feel to the knit. Much alike the development within architecture, my use of contrasting textures and unconventional materials aim to modernise peoples perceptions of knitted fabric
